This is Stacey Tumlinsons Traditional "Zahara" Resin. Finished and Customized by DeeAnn Kjelshus. Many hours went into this mare. She was customized with a brand new tail, and her mane and neck have been customized as well. I brought the mane back off her neck showing off her graceful curves.
I've painted her dapple grey. Each dapple and individual hair were hand painted using a combination of acrylics and pastels to achieve the desired color. I'm very pleased with the results. Add to that the time I took to create detailed hooves, chestnuts, white markings , eyes that have life and you have many, many hours of work into this beauty.
She is finished with layers of protective finish. I also used a special matte finish on the tips of ears, and mane/tail tips to keep them safe from rubs. Actually, as I work on the layers of pastels between each layer I spray TWO protective coats of finish. One, is a Krylon Crystal Clear, and the second is Testors Dull Coat. So by the time the piece is complete the coat is completely protected. She is completely finished when I add a clear shine over the eyes. Completed October 2010. Media used: Acrylics and Pastels.
